We’re really pleased that our support team has gained two members to join Debs and Heather as they provide support for all our Fee Earners. The boost to the Legal Support Team means that Fee Earners can more effectively serve churches and charities.
Let’s get to know our new recruits…
Nush Oree

Nush will be primarily assisting the charity and employment teams.
Her background is in Early Years education, church / charity operations and some paralegal experience in Residential Conveyancing. Nush holds an LLB in Law and is studying towards her LLM through The College of Legal Practice with hopes of (eventually) qualifying as a solicitor through the SQE.
Nush lives with her family in Leicestershire, where they are part of St Luke’s Thurnby. In her remaining crumbs of free time, Nush enjoys baking, reading, and doing other people’s admin.
ECS: Nush, what’s been your journey to ECS, and why did you decide to take up this role?
It’s been a rather winding journey. I actually started out studying for the fashion industry. I did two years of church internships at One Church Leicester (then Trinity Life Church) alongside the NWDY’s at Holy Trinity, doing operations and children’s work. I then qualified in Early Years education and worked in a handful of preschools and nurseries. Then, in 2020—with a newborn, an unfinished house, and the world in lockdown—I embarked on a journey into law at DMU Leicester and now with The College of Legal Practice, and I haven’t regretted it! While studying, I also supported myself by doing social media for the college and for Restore Counselling Network and briefly served as PCC secretary for my local church. I was inspired by ECS’s work and values since it first appeared on my radar in 2020. Shortly into my first legal support role, I suddenly found one door decisively shutting just as another opened at ECS. I am looking forward to enabling the unique vision of ECS, gaining experience in different legal fields, and working with people whose values align with my own.
ECS: What most excites you about your work here?
I’m excited to get to know the team, to build relationships, do Christ-centred work together, and grow both professionally and personally. I’m looking forward to supporting and enabling the vision of ECS in a meaningful way, and I’m eager to see God’s work unfolding through the work of ECS and its clients.
ECS: And what can we be praying for you as you start?
I would ask for prayer for settling in, but the team have been so supportive already! Please do pray for strong and positive working relationships with colleagues and clients, and that I can become confident with the systems and processes in good time to support the charity and employment teams where they need it most.
Ele Hawkins

Ele will be working particularly with the charity team and also helping out with comms work.
ECS: What’s been your journey to ECS, and why did you decide to take up this role?
I was born in Southampton, went to Uni to study English Language in Cardiff, and then moved back to Southampton because unsurprisingly English Language doesn’t lead to many jobs! After getting married and having a couple of kids I moved to Florida where my husband went to seminary. We left the sunshine and heat of Orlando in 2012 and came back to not so sunny Nottingham, where George took up a job in Beeston Free Church. Since then I’ve worked in our church doing comms and design work.
ECS: What most excites you about your work here?
I’m excited to get to work in a company that helps churches in the country with the complex issues that they’re increasingly facing. I’ve only been here a couple of weeks but it’s been great to meet people who are passionate about serving in lots of different ways – and they’re just really nice too. I am excited to be in a place where I can be genuinely helpful to the Fee Earners…not just endlessly asking questions!
ECS: And what can we be praying for you as you start?
Please pray that my little brain would be able to take in all the new information as quickly as possible so I’ll be a help to Heather and Debs and everyone at ECS. It’s very humbling to realise how little I know, so please pray that I’ll keep rooting my identity in Christ, not my abilities – or lack of them! Really practically please pray that I’ll keep getting up and reading my Bible and praying in a morning – even when my head feels full of Actionstep and Matters.
